We’re looking for new members to join our independent customer Scrutiny Panel.
Sitting underneath our Board, the panel are responsible for picking service areas of Halton Housing they wish to scrutinise, with the view to making recommendations for improvement – helping ensure we are offering the best services we can to our customers.
Alongside meeting as a panel, members speak to our colleagues and customers by attending focus groups, carrying out surveys and going on study visits. This all works towards producing a report to our Board with recommendations on how to improve our services.
How many times a year does the Scrutiny Panel meet?
The Scrutiny Panel meets monthly for approx. 2 hours. Outside of meetings, the panel usually spends around 4 hours per week researching and supporting the writing of reports. In addition, the Scrutiny Panel may carry out activity outside of meetings during scrutiny reviews. If you have work, caring, or other commitments, you won’t be expected to attend every meeting. You could either join in online or support in researching the area in which the panel is working in.
Who can become a Scrutiny Panel member?
The panel consists of people from all walks of life that all have the same common goal: helping Halton Housing to be the best it can be.
If you care about the best interests of Halton Housing customers and work well as part of a team, then being a member of our Scrutiny Panel could be right up your street.
You don’t necessarily have to be a Halton Housing customer either, however, you can’t be a tenant of another housing association.
What training and opportunities are available to Scrutiny Panel members?
We offer training to all Scrutiny Panel members including an induction training programme for new members. Members also have the opportunity to complete a level 3 Chartered Institute of Housing qualification.
There are also opportunities for Scrutiny Panel Members to attend housing-related conferences and seminars. The Scrutiny Panel is regularly briefed by staff on housing-related issues.
