Apprentice in Waterfront Point
Text

Molly is our very first Digital Marketing Apprentice and is currently working towards the end of her qualification. Have a read about how she is getting on!

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

After starting at university through the pandemic and feeling it wasn't for me, I saw this opportunity and thought I would give it a go! The combination of a hybrid learning and on the job experience sounded really appealing as I knew it would give me more depth in knowledge and give me much better experience.

What you do in a typical day/week?

I attend college one day weekly where I build a competency-based portfolio and study to take my exams. Through the rest of the week, I then work within the Communications Team, supporting with a variety of events and initiatives. While in work, I collect evidence to then add to my portfolio and work towards my qualification.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

I love the amount of learning and opportunity that I get! I gain new knowledge every day and am supported in learning new skills. I can really appreciate the learning I receive in college when I get to see its practical applications within the organisation.

What skills have you developed so far during your apprenticeship?

Aside from all the skills I build from my qualification, I feel the practical, teamwork, and communicational skills that I have obtained so far are immeasurable. Not only does this make me more capable of carrying out my role, this also has boosted my confidence immensely.

Why did you choose Halton Housing?

When researching Halton Housing, I was intrigued by digital presence and innovation which was present across all channels. The organisation displayed many characteristics that drew me in and this gave urgency to want to learn more! Most importantly, the friendly ethos and customer-based aims matched my morals and were something that I could, without doubt, get on board with.

What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship?

Take the jump! I feel applying for this apprenticeship was one of the best decisions I could have made for my career. The transferable skills I have picked up so far give me the push to have high aspirations for my future.
