Reconnecting Runcorn

In 2021, the government revealed that Runcorn would benefit from a £23.6m investment to transform the town centre.

Runcorn was one of 101 towns to receive the funds under its Town Deal programme after proposals were submitted by Halton Borough Council.

And so the 'Reconnecting Runcorn' project was born...an ambitious programme of eight projects that will collectively improve the lives and livelihoods of local people and boost the local economy.

One of the projects is our High Street development - our independent living scheme built on an area of brownfield land, to provide 66 much-needed affordable homes in the area.

New homes in the heart of Runcorn Old Town

Our new independent living scheme on Runcorn High Street will provide 66 much needed and affordable 1 and 2 bedroom homes for over 55s.  

Located on a long-standing vacant brownfield site in the centre of Runcorn Old Town, directly on the High Street, which backs on to the canal; this is Halton Housing’s first new development for social rent. 

The High Street development forms part of one of the eight projects of the ‘Reconnecting Runcorn’ programme.
