Working together to make a tangible difference.
Halton’s recently re-formed Strategic Housing Partnership met last week to further the aims of the group.
Recognising the vital role and contribution of housing providers, the partnership was created for social landlords who own and manage homes in Halton, to come together with Halton Borough Council and other local stakeholders, to discuss housing and associated issues. Collectively they aim to develop a shared set of strategic priorities, monitor delivery of those priorities and to influence local and regional housing policy.
Chaired by Halton Housing’s Group Chief Executive Sam Scott, the group is committed to influencing and shaping strategic plans that complement providing quality homes and creating thriving communities e.g., health and social care, sustainability, employment and training, housing related support (including tackling domestic abuse and anti-social behaviour) and building community resilience.
Membership of the partnership is focused, to ensure that its contribution remains effective and comprises the most senior figures from Halton Housing, Riverside, Onward Housing, Plus Dane, Your Housing, Magenta and HBC. Representatives from complementary sectors, such as health, also attend in a bid to align public services across the Borough.
The group meets quarterly and shares information and good practice to support partners to improve outcomes for Halton, as well as sharing oversight and responses to national legislation and funding opportunities.
HSHP Chair Sam Scott says, “The partnership is committed to making a difference in Halton, ensuring that a wide range of affordable, good quality homes are available within desirable and safe neighbourhoods. The group provides a platform where common issues can be debated, and conflicting priorities resolved. We need to work together on joint initiatives and projects that have an impact and make a tangible difference across Halton.”
