In partnership with Halton Borough Council, we successfully supported families across Halton during the summer holidays through our lunch scheme. These sessions, offering both nutritious meals and engaging activities, were designed to help families during the school break when children don’t have access to regular school lunches.

The scheme took place at six locations, providing a free lunch for children and a pre-packed bag of essential food items for the week. These bags included fruit, snacks, cereal, milk, bread, and tinned goods, ensuring families had a balanced variety of foods.

Beyond meals, each session featured arts and crafts activities to keep children entertained, while our Halton Housing colleagues and partners were available to offer information, advice, and guidance to families.

Across all six events, we supported 93 children, ensuring they had both meals and fun. To gather feedback, we sent out a survey to parents after the sessions. Every respondent expressed satisfaction with the food items provided, and many praised the variety of activities, the friendly staff, and the enjoyable crafts like coloring.

We are proud to have made a positive impact and delighted to have supported so many families through this initiative.
