Successful funding bid will see retrofit project of Halton Housing homes
We have been successful in a bid for grant funding to provide energy efficiency improvements to local homes.
This funding will help us to tackle fuel poverty by increasing the energy efficiency ratings of some of our homes, while also reducing energy bills and creating warmer homes.
Funding is being provided through the Government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), which is administered by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Working as part of a consortium bid led by Liverpool City Region, involving eight other social housing providers in the area who will receive over £11million in funding to help around 1,250 homes across the region.
The grant funding will support over £1million of investment to improve the energy efficiency of a number of our homes through a number of projects.
We will be contacting customers who will receive the initial phase of energy improvements shortly.
This investment will ensure the homes have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C, along with helping us on our journey towards achieving net zero carbon emissions.
Georgina Patel, Halton Housing's Decarbonisation Strategic Lead says, "This is really exciting news for us in our journey towards net zero. This work to improve the energy efficiency of our homes will help tackle fuel poverty, reduce carbon emissions and importantly, ensure customers have warmer homes - providing real lasting change."
This funding is one of several national housing retrofit funding streams launched in recent months. As part of the Liverpool City Region, we are at the beginning of a long-term programme to achieve the national target to attain an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of Band C by 2030, where possible.
