'Spruce Up Your Streets' in Brunner Road, Widnes
Our latest Spruce Up Your Streets event took place at the old allotment site on Brunner Road and our team of ‘Sprucers’ couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
The entire allotment area had become overgrown, causing visibility issues for residents, and concerns had been raised by people living in the area that a treehouse and old shed had become a place for smoking and anti-social behaviour (ASB) by groups of young people.
Working together the team soon dismantled the treehouse and shed and cleared the area of overgrown weeds and plants to improve the overall appearance of the allotment site, as well as taking significant steps toward curbing ASB.
Huge thanks to our colleagues, partners including Widnes Police and all the volunteers who came along and played their part in these improvements, working together to provide a safer and more enjoyable environment for the residents and local community.
The work on the Brunner Road allotment is just one of many Spruce up Your Streets events we’ve held across Widnes and Runcorn and you can read more about them here.
Don’t forget, you can also get involved too! Our Spruce Up Your streets initiative has become a huge success thanks to the joint efforts of our colleagues, partners and customers so we’d love to see you at our next event.
All events are posted on our website here, and on our Facebook page, so make sure you’re following us to keep up to date with what’s happening in your area.
