School uniform support scheme helps over 230 children in Halton
Halton Housing’s school uniform scheme has supported over 230 children from low-income families across Halton get kitted out for the new term.
With the rising cost of living and concerns around the affordability of essential items like school uniform, the project has helped to alleviate the stress and worry many struggling parents face, with children going back to school in September.
Halton Housing provided £7,500, and our partner, Travis Perkins Managed Services provided £2,500 of funding from its Legacy Fund to support the scheme. Travis Perkins Managed Services (TPMS) is a provider to the repairs and maintenance sector, and one of Halton Housing’s suppliers, and its responsible for awarding funds which go to support various community initiatives.
Thanks to the funding, the scheme was able to support customers towards the cost of school uniforms which can average up to £300 per child (according to some parent surveys).
In 2023, the scheme saw 200 school children benefit from money towards their uniforms.
