As part of Destination Halton Lodge, Halton Housing’s Social Impact and Engagement Team have been working closely with local school, Woodside Primary School.

Our team have looked to identify problems within the school that we could support them with to give the children the best educational experience possible.

Despite already having laptops, the school have had endless problems with their laptop charging case. This has led to pupils sharing laptops, putting a strain on their learning, and restricting their independence in the classroom.

Thanks to our Destination Halton Lodge programme, we have provided £1,386.00 to the school to purchase a new laptop charging station.

Joanne Nelson, Assistant Head said:

“At Woodside Primary, the children love using technology for their learning, particularly the laptops. However, our current lapsafes, which are 20 years old, were starting to break, failing to charge up the laptops we had. This meant that children were having to share laptops, sometime one between three.

Thanks to Halton Housing and their very generous purchase of our new lapsafe, the children at Woodside are now enjoying access to a full class set of fully charged laptops, once again getting the most out of their computing curriculum and the links it has with the broader curriculum areas, such as mathematics, English and science.
