Members from our Environmental Service team recently supported the volunteering efforts of Haddocks Wood Litter Network to make a significant impact on the local environment.

Ash and Matthew joined the litter picking event with enthusiasm and dedication. Their hard work resulted in the collection of 35 bags of litter and the removal of 29 discarded items, filling an entire cage van. This effort has greatly contributed to the cleanliness and beauty of our local woodland.

By providing a caged van and staff support, we demonstrated our continued commitment to the community. Haddocks Wood in Runcorn is a haven for local wildlife, particularly birds, making this cleanup effort even more important.

In total, six volunteers attended the event, including two dedicated staff members from Halton Housing. The group is seeking more volunteers to join in with the next group pick. Additionally, we will be contributing to the Haddocks Wood Environmental Crime Action Group to explore ways to future-proof the area against further instances of environmental crime through target hardening techniques. Further information can be found on their Facebook page.
