Halton Housing awarded Gold Status by Carbon Literacy Project
Halton Housing has been awarded Gold Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO) status from the Carbon Literacy Project (CLP).
The award means we are one of the first Housing Associations to achieve the coveted status, recognising that more than 50% of Halton Housing colleagues and Board members have completed dedicated Carbon Literacy training, to be certified as Carbon Literate. This is a huge step forward and a real game changer for the organisation.
Using a toolkit designed for the social housing sector, the Carbon Literacy Project training course involves learning about greenhouse gases and their impact, how the climate is changing and what that means for individuals, society and Halton Housing as a social landlord. It then challenges participants about their everyday lives and how different choices could reduce the greenhouse gases produced.
Despite the Gold status, we’re striving to achieve our ambitions of 100% completion rate in the next 12 months.
Halton Housing joins almost 100 other leading companies that have been accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project as showing a substantial commitment to Carbon Literacy. Accreditation supports the development, recruitment and retention of a Carbon Literate workforce and requires an organisation to engage positively with its audience or community in developing and delivering low carbon behaviour.
