Four more parking buddies for Widnes
School children in Widnes can now feel safer thanks to Halton Housing’s donation of four school parking buddies, warning parents and motorists about inconsiderate parking outside schools in the area.
The signs will be relocated to areas in Halton Housing's neighbourhoods that experience parking difficulties and traffic congestion outside schools.
As part of the Destination Upton survey, we received several responses regarding irresponsible parking on the zigzag lines near schools. This is particularly concerning as it poses a serious threat to the safety of children crossing the road. The situation forces children to cross the road between parked cars, which is extremely dangerous and has resulted in numerous near misses.
The new signs act as a visual way of tackling the issue of inconsiderate parking outside schools. We hope that by providing these school buddies, parents and children will feel safer when crossing the road.
The signs have been funded as part of our Destination Upton programme.
Earlier this year, Halton Housing funded four parking buddies to Halton Lodge Primary School as part of the Destination Grange programme.
