As part of the Destination Old Town initiative, we’re excited to announce that we’ve funded 16 weeks of evening sessions at SPACE for their ‘Despresso Club,’ a free drop-in for anyone feeling lonely, isolated, or in need of mental health support.

Caroline Moss, CEO and Founder of SPACE shared, “The club started in late 2023 (currently held Tuesdays from 10am-12pm) with the simple idea of offering free drinks and a welcoming space to those in need. Since then, it has blossomed into a beautiful community where people support each other and build lasting friendships. Thanks to funding from Halton Housing, we’ve been able to extend the Despresso Club to include a weekly evening session on Thursdays.”

Located on Regent Street, Runcorn, SPACE Café serves food and drinks from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-2pm. Keep an eye on their Facebook page and website for upcoming events, including the popular ‘Throw and Let Go Clay Workshop,’ Book Club, Writing Group, and Kids Yoga in partnership with Wriggly Wellness.

The decision to fund the evening sessions came from the Destination Old Town survey, which highlighted a need for evening spaces in Runcorn Old Town that weren’t pubs. SPACE was the perfect fit to meet this community demand.
