Colleague walk raises £2300 for local charity Halton Cancer Support Group
Following our colleague 10k walk to raise funds for Halton Cancer Support Group, today we welcomed the charity's Operations Manager, Nicola Donoghue and Trustee Board Director, Ken Hill to Waterfront Point to present them with a cheque for £2300
Nicola said, "We are delighted to be the chosen charity for the Halton Housing Wellbeing Champions', ‘Great Big Walk’. What a fantastic idea to bring their colleagues together to enjoy a 10K walk, while supporting the work of our charity. The funds raised will contribute to our work with children and young people. We have a professional counsellor who provides sessions within local schools, for young people who have someone close to them who has been diagnosed with cancer. These are supportive, therapeutic sessions providing opportunities to explore feelings, understand what is changing in their lives, and to help identify ways in which to cope and manage feelings, creating emotional skills and resilience for life. Our heartfelt thanks goes to each person from the Halton Housing team for every step they took to support these young people in facing such difficulties in their lives. Thank you."
Debbie Trust-Dickinson, Chief Operating & Transformation Officer said, "The 'Great Big Walk' was an ideal opportunity not only to promote the wellbeing of our colleagues, but also to support a brilliant local charity that does so much for families within our community. On behalf of everyone at Halton Housing I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the walk, and to all those who donated - your actions will make such a positive contribution to the work of this fantastic charity.
Debbie, who is also executive sponsor for wellbeing at Halton Housing, was joined by Sam Scott, Group Chief Executive and colleagues from across Halton Housing to present the cheque to Nicola and Ken.
