Our Neighbourhoods Team, working closely with Cheshire Police and Halton Borough Council successfully supported an application for a Closure Order for a house in Runcorn, following reports of criminal activity and ASB.

Warrington Magistrate’s Court issued the order on Friday 9th August for the address: 8 Pear Tree Avenue.

The order, which can be sanctioned under Section 76 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, will last for a period of 3 months.

The terms of the Closure Order prevent anyone from entering or living in the property. If anyone is found to be in the property, they could be arrested.

Any breach of this Closure Order carries a potential prison sentence of six months and/or a fine of up to £5,000.

Amanda Hogarty, Head of Neighbourhoods said: “We welcome the court’s decision to issue this Closure Order. This address has been linked to criminal activity and it’s caused much concern for residents of the area.

“Halton Housing will always work alongside our partners to act on any information we receive, so thank you to the community for coming forward to report these incidents as it has helped us secure this order.

“We hope this Closure Order provides reassurance to the community that Halton Housing will not stand by and let residents suffer in their own homes due to the behaviour of others.

“If you experience any offences where you live, please come forward and speak to us about the issues, as dealing with them benefits everyone in the community."
