Barkla Fields in Widnes has recently undergone an external makeover, much to the delight of its residents.

The independent living scheme, home to 50 apartments, has had a range of exterior improvements and enhanced fire safety measures implemented.

The makeover included new, modern external cladding, replacing the previous wooden façade with stylish weatherboard. Alongside this aesthetic refresh, there was an upgrade to the building's fire safety by replacing the insulation and membranes behind the original cladding. Additionally, there was a substantial upgrade to the fire alarm system within the building to ensure the safety of all residents.

Michael Neilson, Fire Safety Manager who managed the makeover said: “I am sure we can all agree the external refresh looks fantastic. This has been a long time coming and has taken several months from inception to completion and we owe a debt of gratitude to the wider team, of whom there are too many to mention, for the hard work and perseverance that has made this possible.”
