High‑Powered Electric Bikes Seized in Hough Green Following Joint Operation
A joint operation between our Neighbourhoods Team and Cheshire Police has resulted in the seizure of two high‑powered electric bikes that have been causing disruption across the Hough Green area of Widnes in recent weeks.
Residents have repeatedly reported dangerous riding on local roads and pavements, describing bikes being driven at high speeds and posing a significant risk to pedestrians, drivers, and the wider community. The descriptions provided by residents matched the two bikes recovered during the police raid.
With no identified owners able to prove legitimate ownership, the seized bikes will now be crushed. Pictures of the seized bikes can be found below.
These particular electric bikes are believed to be valued at around £2,000 each, making the action a major step in tackling persistent anti‑social behaviour linked to illegal or irresponsible use of high‑powered e‑bikes.
Laura Davies, Neighbourhood Manager said: “These bikes have been a huge concern for our residents, and the way they have been ridden has posed a real danger to members of the public. We’re pleased to have supported Cheshire Police in taking action. This is a great result for the community.”
Cheshire Police echoed the importance of the operation, noting that unregistered, high‑powered electric bikes are a growing issue and often used in ways that breach road safety laws.
We encourage all residents to continue reporting anti‑social behaviour so joint action can be taken swiftly.
